Alex's First Week Home

This week has been wonderful. It's probably not what adoption experts would approve of in terms of starting out slowly, but nonetheless it has been incredible. Alex is starting to understand some English. He knows his name (he knew this before we even left Russia), he can say bye-bye and wave, and he loves pat-a-cake. He starts clapping his hands as soon as you start saying those words. He can say da da and ma ma. He has found the Tupperware cabinet. (So any of you needing gift ideas...HaHa!) He LOVES John Robert (there was an unconfirmed report that he said "Robert"). He loves when John Robert gets home from school and he loves the game of chase through the house. It really gets him fired up!
Alex is almost walking. We have a couple of toys he can walk behind and he's strolling right along. Alex has been oohed and ahhed over at church and with friends this week. He is so adaptable. He really loved seeing the children at church. He's been so use to being around older children, I guess this seemed normal to him. He always greets everyone with a smile. The only time he fusses is when it's time to sleep and he's not ready or he's hungry. Food is serious business to him!
We had a small celebration for Alex's first birthday this weekend. We weren't with him on his birthday, August 15th. Call me sentimental, but we just had to have those memories for his scrapbook. He wore the same outfit John Robert dressed in at his first birthday party.
This week shapes up to be a much slower, more normal week. Our company has gone home (I will really find out what having two kids is like now that Grandma and Aunt Carolyn are not here to back me up!).
